VOGUE Beauty shoot – get the look

Primeiro Look.

 

Este é um dos meus editoriais de Beleza favoritos, EVER, por duas razões. Primeiro porque com foi uma das minha Beauty photographers favorita: a Jamie Nelson, com quem a Vogue Portugal colabora há muitos anos: compramos-lhe muitas fotografias individuais e comissionamos alguns editoriais de Beleza que ela nos fotografa em exclusivo. Lembram-se do editorial Olímpicos, do Especial de Beleza do ano passado? Foi um dos casos. Eu tinha decidido que o tema do Especial eram os Jogos Olímpicos e, depois de vários emails e whatssaps, criámos uma moodboard para o shoot. O resultado foi incrível, recordem algumas das minhas fotos favoritas, como esta, esta, e mais esta.

Voltando a esta produção, quando soube que ia estar em NY para um evento, em Julho passado, falei com a Jamie, acrescentei um dia à minha viagem e combinámos um novo shoot com o tema das Borboletas e Traças, uma super tendência de maquilhagem, deste Inverno!

Um shooting de Beleza para a Vogue…

A experiência de estar na sessão fotográfica foi incrível porque, além de trabalhar ao lado da Jamie, pude deitar a mão na massa e tomar decisões que, à distância não seriam possíveis. Além disso conheci parte da fantástica equipa dela, a stylist Melaney Oldhenhof, o maquilhador Michael Anthony, o hairstylist Linh Nguyen e a nail-artist, Kelly B.
Decidir os looks de maquilhagem, a cor das unhas,  e qual das borboletas que íamos usar no rosto da modelo uber-gorgeous Zuzana Gregorova, foi um processo genial daqueles para usar #whyilovemyjob.
Não foi a minha primeira produção de Beleza (além de muitas fotografadas em Portugal e uma inesquecível no apartamento de Coco Chanel, em Paris) mas, esta teve um gosto especial porque o trabalho de construir os looks e usar como adereços borboletas “verdadeiras” (daquelas que estão montadas em molduras), participar no shooting com a Jamie foi… TOP!

A coincidência gira foi que eu cheguei a NY no dia da final do Euro (cheguei do aeroporto ao hotel 15 minutos antes do fim do jogo e atirei-me para dentro de um Bar, onde estavam a mostrar ao jogo) e assisti à nossa vitória. Não tinha visto a parte da “borboleta/traça” que andou pelo rosto do Ronaldo e, no dia seguinte a minha produção era toda sobre borboletas… Uma história gira para contar 🙂

This is one of my favourite Beauty editorials, EVER, for two reasons. First, because it was with one of my favourite Beauty photographers: Jamie Nelson, with whom Vogue Portugal has been colaborating with for many years: we buy a lot of individual photos from her and comission some Beauty editorials that she photographs exclusively for us. Do you remember the Olympics editorial, from our Beauty Special last year? That was the case. I decided that the theme was the Olympic Games and, after several emails and watssaps, we created the moodboard for the shoot. The result was incredible, and you can recall some of my favourite images, like this, this, and also this.

Back to this shoot. When I found out that I was going to be in NY for an event, last July, I talked to Jamie, added a day to my trip, and we came up with a new shoot with a Buterfly and Moth theme, a super makeup trend, this winter!

A Beauty shooting for Vogue…

The experience of being in a photoshoot was amazing because, besides working with Jamie, I got to make decisions that, from a distance, would have been impossible. And also, I got to meet part of her amazing team, stylist Melaney Oldhenhof, makeup artist Michael Anthony, hairstylist Linh Nguyen, and nail-artist Kelly B.

Deciding the makeup looks, the nail colour, and the butterflies we were going to use on the uber-gorgeous model Zuzana Gregorova,was a genious process that makes me #whyilovemyjob.

It wasn’t my first Beauty production (besides a lot of photographed in Portugal and an unforgettable in the apartment of Coco Chanel, in Paris) but, this had a special taste because the work of putting together the looks and using “real” butterflies as an adornment (those that are in frames), participating in the shooting with Jamie was… AMAZING!

The real coincidence was that I arrived in NY the day of the Euro final (I got to the hotel 15 minutes after the end of the game and went straight to a Bar, where they were showing the game) and got to see our win. But I didn’t catch the part where a “butterfly/moth” was on Ronaldo’s face and, the next day, my production was all about butterflies… A nice story to tell 🙂
